3 charts that will make investors fall in love with stocks again

There has been a lot thrown at the market in the past month: resurgent oil and gas prices, a global rise in bond yields, and, of course, the Federal Reserve's first interest rate increase in three years.

"At the overall market level, we keep the view that it is set to resume advancing once oil and rates volatility subsides, and September poor seasonals move behind us," JPMorgan strategist Mislav Matejka wrote in a note. "This is especially the case as we are approaching what will likely be strong Q3 results, in October. Better tech performance would clearly be a help for the market, given the big weights."

Here are three charts from Truist on the markets that help inspire optimism.

Stocks hardly look expensive from a valuation standpoint.

The S&P 500's forward price-to-earnings ratio rests at 19 times, while prices have remained roughly flat since June 2, per Truist.

This has been the year of strong earnings reports from corporate America. The exception? Nike (NKE).

Earnings estimates for 2027 are already looking solid.
