Amazon's plans for further heavy AI investment and Intel's warning that it expected to burn cash this year heightened investor concerns about the returns on the sector's massive spending commitments.

By 04:04 ET (08:04 GMT), Nasdaq 100 futures had fallen 640 points, or 2.16%, while S&P 500 futures were down 77.5 points, or 1%. Dow futures slipped 25 points, or 0.05%.

Here are some of the biggest premarket U.S. stock movers today

Intel shares plunged 25% in premarket trading after the chipmaker warned it expected to burn cash this year amid manufacturing bottlenecks, heavy investment in production capacity and weakness in the personal computer market. The company has struggled with supply disruptions that have limited its ability to capitalize on growing demand for data-center chips. At the same time, rising memory prices have increased PC costs and weighed on demand, a trend Intel warned could persist through the first half of 2027. The company also forecast December-quarter revenue below market expectations.

Amazon shares fell 6.5% after the e-commerce and cloud computing giant forecast holiday-quarter sales below Wall Street expectations, adding to concerns about consumer demand as inflation picks up. The company's continued investment in AI infrastructure has also brought the cost of the technology buildout into sharper focus. Surging data-center spending is pushing major technology companies to commit increasingly large amounts of capital, while rising memory prices are putting pressure on demand for consumer devices such as smartphones and PCs.
