Shares of semiconductor companies are on the rise as investors return to stocks exposed to artificial intelligence after a few turbulent weeks.

In Asia, shares of South Korean memory-chip maker SK Hynix closed nearly 30% higher, while Samsung Electronics gained 27%. In Europe, shares of Dutch semiconductor-equipment maker ASML Holding and smaller rival ASM International were up 2.8% and 6.2%, respectively. German chip maker Infineon Technologies climbed 5.8%. STMicroelectronics shares gained 3.8%.

Meanwhile, the E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures contract traded 1.3% higher, pointing to a strong opening for tech stocks in the U.S.
