Amazon and Microsoft's fast-expanding data-center businesses show that the so-called hyperscalers can profit from artificial intelligence even if model development slows, said Amati Global Investors' Mikhail Zverev.

Amazon said its cloud-computing sales are accelerating Thursday, after Microsoft announced sharp growth in its Azure cloud business Wednesday.

The uptake of AI models across everyday enterprises will support higher data-center demand, Zverev said. Data centers can make money "even if they're not re-inventing humanity," he added.
