Apple stock tumbled 7.4% to $308.91 on Friday after its fiscal third-quarter earnings report left investors disappointed.

The drop wiped out $359 billion in value, bringing Apple's market capitalization to $4.51 trillion to end July. That was the third -argest single-day market cap decline for any U.S. company on record, according to Dow Jones Market Data.

Sharp moves aren't typical for Apple stock after earnings. Friday marked the stock's largest post-earnings decline since Jan. 28, 2014, when it fell 8%.
