There's no doubt that SpaceX is the 800-pound gorilla in the space market. It essentially invented the modern space business by pioneering reusable rockets.

That means most other space stocks get pulled into its orbit. That was the case in Tuesday trading.

SpaceX was up 9.1% at $124.99 in midday trading. Shares were on pace for their second consecutive gain. Traders, it seems, are lightening up on bearish positions built heading into earnings.
