Tesla stock was up 18 cents in early trading at $379.11. The S&P 500 was up about 0.1%.

It's a small move. Investors appear to be waiting for earnings before deciding what to do with the stock. Coming into Wednesday trading, Tesla stock was down about 16% year-to-date and down about 2% since Tesla reported first-quarter numbers on April 22.

The small decline came despite better-than-expected first-quarter results and stronger-than-expected second-quarter deliveries.
